Our usual game drives are about three hours long. As a wildlife enthusiast, this simply isn’t enough time for me. I could spend all day out there with my guests, which is exactly what I had the chance to do last month.
For an entire day, the Kramer family from Germany and I had the privilege of exploring the magical Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. We covered about 250 kilometres in search of animals, looping around different places around the park. The beautiful landscapes we encountered made the experience even more exciting and spectacular.
We came across a vast variety of game, big and small, including three of the big five – elephant, rhino and buffalo.
After a wonderful day exploring every inch that the bushveld had to offer, we all felt the same way when we got home- we just had to do it all again the next day.
On February 27th, we got our wish, and we embarked on another full day’s adventure, eventually tracking down a pride of lions after a long day out. We watched them, mesmerised and soaking in every moment of this successful endeavour.
I firmly believe that as guides, it is these full-day game drives that allow us to provide the best possible guiding experience for our guests. I can’t wait to do it again!
